Heather Ruiz

RYT, Owner, Usui Reiki Master, Level I Shamballa Reiki , Zumba Instructor, 2007 Director of Yoga for Peace, Boston, MA and 2008 Founder Global Mala Yoga for Peace Boston, MA

Heather began her journey a few years ago after trying yoga for the first time at a Bikram studio. She was experiencing physical and emotional pains that faded as soon as she decided to make a commitment to her mat.

She received her certification through Open Doors Teacher Training program. Heather also holds certification in Prenatal, Postnatal, and Baby & Me Yoga. Heather continues to learn from master instructors in workshops and conferences. Noting how her life had changed, Heather decided to surround herself with happiness, friends, and peace - to surround herself with yoga. Heather believes that yoga and Reiki work together as one, and generously shares her energy with all of her students, family, and friends.

Amanda Richter

Amanda Richter (RYT) has this to say about how she came to appreciate the role yoga has played in her life:

"Yoga came into my life at a time when I was completely lost. I had grown up with a difficult childhood, where I carried the weight of the world on my shoulders. I internalized the emotional pain I felt and took on the role of being the perfect everything. This led to me participating in competitive sports, such as rowing and running which left my body strong, but my heart empty. By my early 20’s, I was deeply depressed. Yoga found me after completing a marathon in 2004. Yoga broke away all the painful layers I was carrying and built me back up again by allowing me to connect to my inner self. All it took was showing up to my mat as often as I could and being present with my breath and body while I was there. Yoga brought a wealth of positive energy into my life, and slowly all the negativity disappeared. I went from being insecure, unhappy with very few friends, to someone who is confident, joyful and surrounded by positive people. Yoga helped me to see that I didn’t want to live a life of fear, and I credit my practice with recently helping me to leave my frequent-travel, goal-orientated job of 5 years.

I knew I wanted to bring the gift of yoga to others and in late 2006, I completed my 200 Hour teacher training through Open Doors Power Yoga studios and began teaching at their Canton studio. I also completed my Reiki I and II certifications. I am so thankful for all the Open Doors teachers have taught me, and thank especially Richard Lanza, Jene Rossi and Pat Iyer for their love and guidance.

When I am not teaching yoga, I work part time and volunteer teaching for yogaHOPE, a non-profit outreach organization dedicated to bringing the practice of yoga to residential facilities for underserved women in substance abuse recovery, poor and homeless women and victims of domestic violence.

I look forward to sharing with you the joy yoga has brought to my life. Namaste."

Anthe Kelley

Anthe Kelley (RYT) Though it's been nearly a decade since Anthe first experienced yoga, her true passion for it intensified three years ago under the guidance of an inspired teacher which, in turn, inspired her own journey through the Open Doors Power Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Having been a spiritual and philosophical seeker from an early age, Anthe feels at home with these aspects of yoga, and continually seeks a deeper understanding of the integration of mind, body and spirit through the practice of yoga.

She strives to bring this awareness to her own practice and invites her students to do the same. She seeks and encourages compassionate surrender to all aspects of being and becoming.

Bo Walter

Bo Walter (RYT) became a certified Power Vinyasa Yoga teacher through Open Doors Yoga. She has been practicing yoga for over 10 years, and realizes the strong impact it has made in her life over the past five years. Creating and maintaining a balance and connection between mind, body and spirit has helped her to be resilient and strong during periods of family illnesses and life transitions. "The importance of the breath is such a life-giving source," she says. "It has carried me through moments of distress and frustrations and allowed me to open up and see the answer from within."

Bo has two amazing children and a loving supportive husband, all whom practice yoga as well. She believes her two children are the greatest teachers she could ever have, and that they have taught her patience, the simplicity of life, not to take life so seriously, and to laugh all the time. She is inspired by their genuine, pure spirits and aspires to become a teacher like them.

Says Bo, "I hope yoga has found you and you have found yoga. Practice within the light and find your inner peace."

Michelle Leotta

Michelle Leotta (RYT) I have some confessions: I can't do a handstand, I've never reached enlightenment, and I wish my hips were more flexible. But I'm ok with all of that because yoga isn't about "getting it right." What a relief! Instead, practicing yoga helps me examine and appreciate the body and mind exactly as they are in the present moment. Yoga has helped me through anxiety, depression, and digestive disorders, and has given me strength to change my entire lifestyle. With compassion and humor I hope to bring gifts like these to all of my students.

Coming from a dance background, I've always been drawn to how the human body moves and works. My teacher training with David Vendetti was Vinyasa-based with a strong emphasis on prenatal yoga. In 2009 I will become certified as a Holistic Health Counselor.

Join me in a place where there are no judgments and everyone is free to be exactly as they are. We'll leave our stories at the door and explore our wonderful, unique bodies and the life force inside all of us.

Rick Frank

Rick Frank lived at Kripalu Center for four months in 1986, where he returned to eighteen years later to complete his yoga teacher training. His teaching is also influenced by the Viniyoga approach as taught by Gary Kraftsow.

Rick uses yoga in his work as an occupational therapist to help people with physical health challenges, as well as those with mental health issues.
