Open your practice with the ease, comfort and the support of a partner. This workshop touches upon all the disciplines that AcroYoga offers, combining Yoga, Acrobatics, and Thai Massage. The class experience includes: Circle Ceremony, Mirrored Asana, Partner Yoga Flow, Assisted Inversions, Partner Acrobatics, Flying Sequences and Thai Massage. Grounded in the breath, we will draw upon the natural forces of gravity and "metta" loving kindness to encourage the body to let go of fear and tension. Students are requested to have familiarity with yoga. No partner necessary!
LOVE, LIGHT & FLIGHT
Sunday, September 7, 1:30 - 4:30 PM
Flying is a dance between Shiva & Shakti, that utilizes the compliments of strong grounding energy and fluid receptive energy. It is a practice of giving and receiving, honoring and accepting, inhaling and exhaling that will take both yogis into a new place of union and bliss. The base creates a stable platform for the flyer to receive inverted aerial asana flows, blended with therapeutic massage techniques. The relationship between partners deepens as they exchange roles as flyer and base, increasing their capacity for trust and communication. The flyer receives spinal and muscular release while the base is the recipient of Thai Massage and the Buddhist practice of metta -loving kindness. No partner necessary!

Sept. 14* -- Reaching for Kaivalya: Yoga Philosophy and Practice...
A primary goal of Yoga is to achieve Kaivalya, a state of liberation from the mundane and union with the divine. There is a comprehensive world view and philosophy behind all that we currently call "Yoga." Yoga practice is as much about transforming the mind as it is about transforming the body. One's path to freedom is incomplete without the examination of Yoga's philosophical foundations and techniques for bringing these forth into your world. In this workshop, we will explore and understand some of the most important tenets of Yoga through an examination of its literature and scripture. We will also embody some of these principles through a balanced hatha yoga practice.
Required reading: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, any translation, first 2 chapters; The Bhagavad Gita, any translation; and Tantra and Classical Yoga article by Linda Johnsen (article provided to participants)
October 5 -- Disintegration to Integration... Have you ever said, "I just can't 'get' that pose….?" Explore the art of asana 'deconstruction' and 'reconstruction', enabling you to practice or teach poses with more understanding (Vidya), finesse (Sthiram), and power (Shakti) and less effort (Sukham). We'll look at a few favorites from each type of asana and will also take suggestions from the group, time permitting. Geared to All Levels (Great for teachers). Required reading: Anatomy of Hatha Yoga or Anatomy of Movement.
October 26th* --Yoga and Prana
Our very existence is animated through the accumulation and utilization of primal energy, called Prana. Although the word Prana is mentioned frequently in the yoga world, it is rarely examined in depth. For instance, there are five categories of physical prana, characterized by their movement and direction, which we'll explore through asana, discussion and observation. We'll delve into an exploration of Prana's real power and potential for expanding Creativity and Consciousness. No prerequisite reading.
November 23 -- Sun Moon and Fire
"We are made of the same stuff that lights the most distant stars. Recognize it and discover a power and insight that will guide you to flourist in every area of your life" -- Yogarupa Rod Stryker. Yoga practices are premised on the cultivation of our inner fire (Agni) and its proper utilization. Learn how to nurture these profound elemental powers and fuel your potential to live a fuller, freer and more joyful life. Asana, pranayama, mudra, bandha and meditation will all be explored as ways to brighten and sustain our Agni.
